Employee Ownership M&A Analyst
Position Summary
The Employee Ownership M&A Analyst will support all phases of the acquisition process, including sourcing, direct outreach to potential targets, performing initial transaction analysis, supporting valuation and financial modeling, coordinating due diligence providers, and contributing to integration planning. You will work closely with senior leadership to develop client-ready materials and apply corporate finance, accounting, and ESOP structuring knowledge in live transactions. This role offers hands-on experience in real-time dealmaking, ownership transition strategies, and impact investing, with significant opportunities for growth and contribution to a mission-driven firm.
This position is based in our office in Nashville, TN. We may also consider exceptional remote candidates.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Core responsibilities of the Employee Ownership M&A Analyst include:
- Sourcing & Outreach: Identify and engage acquisition targets for our buy-side clients through targeted outreach, strategic research, and relationship-building.
- Financial Acumen: Apply corporate finance, accounting, and valuation concepts to support active transactions and pipeline development.
- Client Communication: Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
- Valuation & Analysis: Create valuation analyses using methods such as DCF, transaction comps, and relative valuation-based approaches.
- Presentation Materials: Develop client-ready materials that communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Transaction Execution: Support the full lifecycle of M&A deals—from sourcing to closing—under the guidance of Managing Director.
- Collaboration: Build trusted relationships with colleagues across the firm and contribute to a high-integrity, mission-aligned culture.
Candidate Qualifications
The candidate must have 2+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate development, management consulting, transaction advisory, or public accounting, with specific live transaction references.
In addition, the ideal candidate has:
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Familiarity with valuation, accounting, and financial modeling.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with client senior management, business owners, and service providers throughout deal process, from initial screening of a target to closing a transaction.
- Curiosity and a desire to understand various business models and sectors.
- Interest in how new technologies, specifically AI, can enhance sourcing, research, and market mapping to expand our impact.
- High attention to detail, self-direction, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Passion for using employee ownership as a tool for business performance, wealth creation, and community building.
Required Education
An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field, with an outstanding record of academic achievement.
Compensation
Target base salary is $70-90k, depending on candidate’s experience.
Compensation for this role will include base and bonus, in addition to company’s standard retirement and healthcare benefits.
